ID Photo JP

FAQ

Answers to common questions about shooting, printing, buying and privacy.

Shooting and making

Shooting and making photos

Does it really work without the internet?

Yes. Shooting, face detection, background removal, correction, saving and print sheets all run on your device. It only goes online to buy Pro or restore a purchase.

Are my photos ever sent anywhere?

No. ID Photo JP has no server and no accounts, so there is nothing that could receive your photos or face data. A photo only leaves the app when you save it to Photos or share it yourself.

Will the receiving office accept my photo?

We can't promise that. The app sets the size and face position to published standards and checks the photo, but final acceptance is decided by the receiving office. Please also check its latest requirements.

Can I use a photo I already have?

Yes — tap "Choose a photo" or "From Files" on the home screen. Pick a photo where you face the camera and your face is large enough.

Is the front-camera photo mirrored?

The preview works like a mirror, but the saved photo keeps the real orientation. To save it flipped, turn on "Save mirrored" in Settings.

Is there skin smoothing or eye enlarging?

No. An ID photo is for proving who you are, so the app only corrects brightness, color and contrast naturally.

Printing

Printing

My convenience-store print came out too small.

Make sure "Fit to paper" or "Fit" is not selected, and print at 100%. Choose "with border", not "borderless". The app's print-size test lets you check that a 50 mm square prints at 50 mm.

How many photos fit on one L-size sheet?

Up to 6 at 40×30 mm (résumé, residence card…), 4 at 45×35 mm (passport, My Number Card…) and 9 at 30×24 mm (driver's license). 2L, A4 and mixed sizes on one sheet come with Pro.

Can I print at home?

Yes. Print the saved sheet on L-size photo paper at 100% (actual size). "Fit to paper" and "borderless" change the size of the photos.

Buying

Pro and purchases

Is Pro a subscription?

No. Pro is a one-time purchase of ¥1,480. It never renews and never bills you monthly.

What can I do for free?

The camera guide and auto-capture, starting from your own photo, résumé, student ID and exam photos, automatic alignment and the photo check, a white background, natural correction, JPEG saving, the L-size print sheet, the convenience-store guide and the latest 3 items of history. There are no ads.

Is there a free trial?

No. The free version lets you go all the way from shooting to the print sheet, so you can try it before deciding on Pro.

What happens to Pro when I change phones?

On a device signed in with the same Apple ID or Google account, open Settings → Restore purchase in the app — no extra charge. History is stored only on the device and does not move; save the photos you need to Photos first.

Can I get a refund?

Apple and Google handle purchases, so refunds follow their refund policies. Use "Report a Problem" for the App Store, or Google Play Help for Google Play.

Privacy

Data and privacy

Which permissions does it use?

The camera to take photos, the photo library to save them, and Face ID or fingerprint for app lock. Your device asks the first time each is used; if you say no, everything else still works.

Where is my history stored?

Only inside the app, on your device. Only the photos you choose to save go to your Photos app. Delete history one by one or all at once, or use "Don't keep history" and auto delete (Pro).
