Printing ID photos at a convenience store

How to print L-size ID photos at the right size at 7-Eleven, Lawson and FamilyMart, and what to watch out for.

Step by step

Printing on a convenience-store multi-copier

Save the print sheet in the app, then head to a convenience store. An L-size photo print usually costs a few dozen yen (it varies by store and machine).

  • 7-Eleven
  • Lawson
  • FamilyMart
Important
  • Don't choose "Fit to paper" or "Fit" — always print at 100%.
  • Choose "with border", not "borderless". Borderless enlarges the photo and changes its size.
  1. Save the print sheet in the app

On the preview, tap Save / Export → print sheet, then Save sheet on L size. It goes to your Photos app.

  2. Choose "Photo print" on the multi-copier

Pick photo printing — not copy or document printing.

  3. Choose the photo from your smartphone

Connect your phone as the screen explains and pick the saved sheet. How you connect (a store app, Wi-Fi…) differs by store and machine.

  4. Print on L size, at 100%, with border

Choose L-size paper, keep the size at 100% and print with a border.

  5. Cut them out

Use a ruler and a cutter along the edges of each photo.

Steps, menu names and prices may differ by store and machine.

Print sheet

Laid out on L size, easy to cut

The app places your photos on L-size photo paper (89×127 mm) with a 3 mm margin and a 2 mm gap between photos. When more fit with the paper turned, it turns it.

  • How many fit?Up to 6 at 40×30 mm (résumé, residence card…), 4 at 45×35 mm (passport, My Number Card…), 9 at 30×24 mm (driver's license).
  • The 50 mm testThe print-size test in the convenience-store guide saves an L-size sheet with a 50 mm square and a scale. Print it once and check it with a ruler.
  • 2L, A4 and mixed sizes (Pro)Larger paper, photos for different documents on one sheet, and corner cut guides come with Pro.

Print-size testAfter printing, check it measures 50 mm

If the size is wrong

  • Photos too small or too large: check that "Fit to paper", "Fit" or "borderless" is not selected, and print again at 100% with a border.
  • The test square is not 50 mm: check the machine's settings, or try another store or machine.
  • Printing at home: print on L-size photo paper at actual size (100%).

Submitting a file instead

For online applications or email, use a single photo from "Save as data", not the print sheet. It can be matched to a required pixel size or file size (Pro).
