Reading the table
- Photo size: Japanese ID photo sizes are written height × width. A résumé's "40×30 mm" is a portrait photo 40 mm tall and 30 mm wide.
- Crown to chin: from the top of the head (including hair) to the tip of the chin — the usual way face size is specified. For passports it is 34±2 mm.
- Space above the head: from the top edge of the photo to the top of the head. For passports, 4±2 mm.
- Pixels: mm ÷ 25.4 × 300, the size at 300 dpi. If an online application asks for particular pixels or a file size, Pro's Custom size and file-size target can match it.
Size is not the only rule
Passports, My Number cards and other documents also require things like "taken within the last 6 months" and "no hat, facing forward, plain background". Rules on background color, glasses and hair also differ from office to office. Use the app's photo check as a guide towards them.
Final acceptance is up to the receiving office
